Amazon continues to strongly invest in generative artificial intelligence, as demonstrated by the announcement of Amazon Nova. According to the company, it is a new generation of foundational models designed to change the way texts, images, and even videos are created and processed.
In its statement, Amazon highlighted its commitment to using AI to simplify the lives of its customers, from shoppers and sellers to advertisers and businesses. This list of new models is capable of working in 200 languages and is available on Amazon Bedrock:
- Amazon Nova Micro: With it, we can generate text with very low latency responses and at a lower cost.
- Amazon Nova Lite: Multimodal model that according to Amazon is “very fast for processing image, video, and text inputs”.
- Amazon Nova Pro: More advanced multimodal model with “the best combination of accuracy, speed, and cost“.
- Amazon Nova Premier: This is the most powerful model. It is intended for “complex reasoning tasks“. It will be available at some point in the first quarter of 2025.
- Amazon Nova Canvas: Model intended for generating images.
- Amazon Nova Reel: This model will help us generate videos.
According to Amazon, the Nova Micro, Nova Lite, and Nova Pro models are “75% cheaper” than the best models in their respective classes of Amazon Bedrock.
What is Amazon Bedrock?
Amazon Bedrock is an AWS (Amazon Web Services) service that aims to help companies with the creation of generative AI applications. To achieve this, it offers access to models such as those from Meta or Stability AI, for example, through a single API. This way, companies can experiment with different models to see which one best suits their needs and develop applications based on them.
