We knew that Marvel Rivals was going to perform well, as the previous numbers regarding expectations were really promising. However, these have been greatly surpassed by reality: the new game from NetEase has been a real hit in terms of statistics obtained and has broken several records.
To begin with, the video game has achieved a peak of 444,286 players during its first hours. Thanks to this figure, Marvel Rivals has entered the TOP 25 Steam games with the highest historical peak – precisely in the 25th position. It was just 3,000 users short of surpassing Among Us and about 14,000 short of Helldivers 2.
Continuing with data, it has been Marvel Rivals itself, through its X (formerly Twitter) profile, that has announced it has reached “number one in sales on Steam and second place among the most played,” only behind Counter Strike 2. As a detail to consider, when it refers to “sales” it means “downloads,” since Marvel Rivals is free to play, meaning there is no need to pay to play.
At the moment, Marvel Rivals has almost 7,000 reviews on Steam with a 76% rating, giving it a “mostly positive” rating. Considering the short time it has been available, everything indicates that the number of reviews will increase significantly during this upcoming weekend.
Marvel Rivals is a 6vs6 game where we control Marvel characters in battles typical of the genre. Of course, even though the game is free, all its monetization relies on various cosmetic elements and derivatives.
